They say everyone has a book inside of them. Some of us have more than others. Some of us need a book coach to get them out of us. So far I’ve written 6 books of my own and helped or contributed to several other people’s books. At any given time I usually have a couple in the works. It’s probably best to work on one at a time, but everyone has their own process.
So if your book has been festering inside you for years or is half written on your computer maybe you need a push to either get started, or make it over the finish line. If you have spent any amount of time online you’ve probably seen programs or workshops to write your book in a weekend. Yes it can be done, but it’s not the normal process. It typically takes me 3-6 months to write a book, and that’s probably a reasonable time frame for most people. Different approaches work for different people and different types of books. This is where a book coach can help you along. Finding the approach that works for you can often be the obstacle that keeps your book locked in your brain or your computer.
Anyone Can Do It
You don’t need to be an English major or an academic to write a book. My English teachers would probably be surprised that I have even written one book. I also tend to follow the Mark Twain school of spelling so I’m not going to edit your book. Book coaching is about finding direction in the creation of the book, and following through to final product.
When done correctly, your book can be one byproduct of a broader content creation exercise that might also result in a blog, course, audio and electronic versions, or coaching programs. A lot depends on the topic and where you want it to go.
